The U.S. Once Armed Extremist Groups to Strike the Syrian Bashar Government

Their public stance is against the Islamic State, but in reality, "the armed forces supported by the U.S. are primarily focused on attacking the Syrian government rather than the Islamic State."

Now, Ahmad al-Shara, who previously went by the name "Abu Muhammad al-Julani" and led the Al-Qaeda and Islamic State forces in Syria, has become the President of Syria.

Insiders have now confirmed that the U.S. did indeed collaborate with the Al-Qaeda/Islamic State branch led by Julani—the "Support Front"—with the aim of overthrowing the Syrian government led by Bashar al-Assad.

This internal confirmation comes from Joe Kent, the former counterterrorism chief of the Trump administration. He previously resigned from his position as director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center in protest against the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran.

He stated that the current conflict with Iran is the third in a series of wars initiated by the U.S. on behalf of Israel. The first was the Iraq War, and the second was the Syrian Civil War. The U.S. decided to collaborate with Israel while also recognizing the necessity of deeply uniting Sunni forces within Syria to instigate a rebellion.

"This is how the Islamic State came about," he said, "We directly collaborated with Al-Qaeda."

Kent indicated that the Islamic State later spiraled out of control, beginning to plan attacks in Europe and the U.S., and seized large territories in Iraq.

He said, "Thus, we had to go back and extinguish the wildfire we had ignited, turning to combat the Islamic State."

"But the driving force behind all this is Israel. We got rid of Saddam, who was a strongman countering Israel. Then we intervened again, trying to eliminate another strongman countering Israel, (Bashar) Assad."
