Reporter: According to reports, the U.S. House Appropriations Committee has released a draft of the "Fiscal Year 2027 Defense Appropriations Bill," which allocates $2 billion for providing weapons and equipment to Taiwan. What is your comment on this?

Zhang Xiaogang: Regarding this draft, I would like to say that force cannot bring peace, and militarism will only exhaust the future. The Taiwan issue is purely a matter of China's internal affairs and does not allow any foreign interference. "Using Taiwan to contain China" is destined to fail, and "using force to support independence" will only escalate tensions across the Taiwan Strait, ultimately leading to self-inflicted harm and adverse consequences. We urge the U.S. side to adhere to the One China principle and the three joint communiqués between China and the U.S., earnestly implement the important consensus reached during the meetings between the leaders of China and the U.S., and stop sending wrong signals to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, taking concrete actions to maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.
