On November 2, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington (reporters Huang Qiang and Xu Jianmei) that U.S. President Trump stated on the 2nd that he is "not in a hurry" to decide whether to restart military action against Iran.

During a phone interview with Axios on that day, Trump said, "In any case, we will take action, but we are not in a rush. We have severely damaged them economically." He also mentioned that the U.S. and Iran are currently in dialogue, "progress is relatively smooth... (Iran) is not as urgent as everyone imagines, but they want to reach an agreement more than ever before."

Trump stated at an event in Washington that Iran wants to reach an agreement to end the conflict, and that an agreement "is possible."

Recently, Trump has repeatedly threatened to resume military strikes against Iran. U.S. media have also reported that the U.S. military is prepared for a new round of large-scale strikes against Iran, and Trump may issue orders for action after the November midterm elections.

According to Axios, Trump is currently likely to adopt a "dual-track" strategy at least temporarily: allowing negotiations to continue while being prepared to resume hostilities if it is determined that an agreement cannot be reached.

According to the Islamic Republic News Agency on the 2nd, Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif stated in an interview that the indirect negotiations between the U.S. and Iran, mediated by Qatar and Pakistan, are "very intensive," and Iran has put forward its own conditions.
