UK firm to demo autonomous vessel tech at SMM 2026

Report Content

Cambridge Pixel will show its software for uncrewed and autonomous surface vessels at SMM 2026, a maritime trade fair running September 1-4 in Hamburg, Germany.

The UK-based company will set up at Hall B1, Stand 321, where it plans to demonstrate radar, camera and sensor processing modules used for tracking, data fusion, display, control, recording and simulation on USVs and ASVs.

Cambridge Pixel has supplied software components to USV and ASV developers for more than a decade, working with manufacturers across the United States, Europe and Asia. The company says its software is integrated with more than 80 different radar systems, providing tracking, navigation and situational awareness without requiring additional hardware.

The company’s core product for this market is SPx Server V2, which handles radar video processing, proximity detection and tracking for collision avoidance and autonomous navigation. A Detection Server configuration within that software provides plot extraction and proximity detection, while a Tracking Server configuration adds multi-hypothesis target tracking. Cambridge Pixel says the software can output obstacle and target data to external autonomy or vessel-control systems using formats including ASTERIX, NMEA-0183, TAK and SAPIENT.

The company says its technology also supports navigation in GPS-denied environments, along with camera control and unlocking maritime radar systems for use with custom software.

Cambridge Pixel lists customers in 65 countries, including BAE Systems, the British Royal Navy, Echodyne, Furuno, Hanwha, Hensoldt, L3Harris, Lockheed Martin, OSI Maritime, QinetiQ, Raytheon, Saab, Thales and the U.S. Navy.

SMM 2026 is expected to draw more than 2,200 exhibitors and nearly 50,000 visitors from over 100 countries, according to the event organizers. This year’s edition will include a new Maritime Security and Defence Expo section, featuring exhibitors focused on unmanned systems, cyber solutions, maritime surveillance and critical infrastructure protection.
