Ukrainian capital Kyiv hit by airstrike, resulting in 27 dead and 91 injured
On July 2, Xinhua News Agency reported from Kyiv (Reporter Li Dongxu) that the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tkachенко, stated on social media that the large-scale airstrike launched by the Russian military on the night of July 1 to the early morning of July 2 has resulted in 27 deaths and 91 injuries.
Tkachенко mentioned that the Russian military attack led to the deaths of 5 people in a residential area of the Darnytskyi district, with 8 others still missing. Currently, search and rescue operations are ongoing, and the casualty numbers may continue to rise.
On the afternoon of the 2nd, at the site of the attack in the Darnytskyi district, a spokesperson for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine told Xinhua reporters that Kyiv City has deployed 130 sets of equipment and 500 rescue personnel to carry out rescue operations at 39 attack sites across the city.
Kyiv Mayor Klitschko stated on social media that the city was simultaneously attacked by ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, affecting 10 districts, with a residential building in the Darnytskyi district suffering the most severe damage, including partial collapse.
On the 2nd, Russian presidential press secretary Peskov said at a press conference that the Russian military is conducting large-scale retaliatory strikes against Ukraine. A statement released by the Russian Ministry of Defense on social media indicated that in retaliation for Ukraine's attacks on civilian targets within Russia, the Russian military has utilized land-based, sea-based, and air-based long-range weapons and attack drones to strike military-industrial enterprises in Ukraine that produce missile guidance systems and drones, as well as fuel energy complexes and military airports.
