On the evening of March 8, local time, the civil affairs department of South Darfur State in western Sudan reported that a market in the state capital, Nyala, was attacked by drones, resulting in the deaths of 10 civilians and injuries to another 7.

As of now, no individual or organization has claimed responsibility for the attack.

On April 15, 2023, armed conflict broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in the capital, Khartoum, with the fighting subsequently spreading to other regions.
