Yemen's Houthi forces claim attacks on Saudi airports and energy facilities
Xinhua News Agency, Kuwait City, October 11 (Reporter Yin Zhao) - Sana'a reports: The Yemeni Houthi armed group stated on the 11th that within the past 24 hours, the organization carried out four military operations using missiles and drones against airports and energy facilities within Saudi Arabia.
The military spokesperson for the Houthi armed group, Yahya Saree, issued a statement that day through the organization's controlled Masirah TV, saying that the operations utilized ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, targeting include King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital Riyadh, King Fahd International Airport near the city of Dammam in the Eastern Province, and two facilities of Saudi Aramco.
The statement said that the first operation began on the 10th, consisting of three waves of attacks on King Khalid International Airport, resulting in the interruption of airport flight operations and forcing the airport to close. The second operation targeted a gas facility of Saudi Aramco located in the Eastern Province, which "directly hit" the target and caused a large fire. The third operation attacked another facility of Saudi Aramco in the Eastern Province, causing a fire. The fourth operation targeted King Fahd International Airport, with the attack "hitting the target," leading to the interruption of airport flight operations.
The statement also mentioned that the Houthi armed group launched six ballistic missiles and two drones at "Saudi military assembly points" in parts of Lahij Province in southern Yemen, resulting in dozens of casualties, and used surface-to-air missiles to attack Saudi warplanes, forcing them to withdraw.
Saree stated in the announcement that in the past 24 hours, Saudi warplanes conducted 124 airstrikes on the Yemeni capital Sana'a and several provinces, and the aforementioned military actions are a response to Saudi Arabia's recent increase in airstrikes on Yemen. He accused the Saudi airstrikes of causing numerous civilian casualties, including women and children.
Saree once again warned international airlines, aviation personnel, and travelers not to use airports within Saudi Arabia and its airspace. He stated that Saudi airports are all "unsafe," except for the airports and airspace of Mecca and Medina.
