Zhang Shengmin Meets with the Indonesian Minister of Defense

Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission Zhang Shengmin met with Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto in Beijing on the 17th during the 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum.

Zhang Shengmin stated that China and Indonesia are good neighbors separated by the sea and good partners sharing a common destiny. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Prabowo, the two countries have continuously deepened cooperation in the five major pillars of politics, economy, culture, maritime affairs, and security, and the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Indonesia continues to deepen and solidify. The two sides should closely unite and cooperate, which holds significance far beyond bilateral scope, and should play a positive, stabilizing, and benevolent role in international affairs, promoting the international order towards a more just and reasonable direction. Security cooperation is an important manifestation of the high strategic mutual trust between the two countries. The two militaries must resolutely implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen strategic communication, enhance exchanges and interactions at all levels, expand practical cooperation in various fields, comprehensively elevate military relations, contribute to the construction of a community with a shared future for China and Indonesia, and make greater contributions to maintaining world peace and regional stability.

Prabowo highly appreciated the important role of the Beijing Xiangshan Forum in strengthening defense exchanges and cooperation and enhancing global security governance. He stated that international and regional peace, stability, and development cannot be separated from China. Indonesia firmly adheres to the one-China policy and is willing to work with China, guided by the consensus of the heads of state, to maintain the good momentum of the development of bilateral military relations, promote more fruitful results in practical exchanges and cooperation, and better benefit both countries and their peoples.
