Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Chebarkul training ground in Chelyabinsk Oblast on October 2 to observe the final phase of the "Central-2026" command staff strategic exercise. According to the Kremlin website, the "Central-2026" exercise took place from September 28 to October 3, involving over 47,000 troops executing tasks at 11 training grounds and in the Caspian Sea, in coordination with the CSTO "Cooperation-2026" command and staff exercise. The purpose of the exercise is to enhance the command capabilities of troops in responding to external aggression, to practically apply new weapons and equipment, and all tasks draw on the experience of special military operations.
