AW109

The AW109 family began as Agusta's light twin-engine helicopter and developed through several generations under AgustaWestland and Leonardo branding. Leonardo's GrandNew page presents the modern family around performance, speed, payload, and operational flexibility, while reference histories trace the original A109 back to the 1970s. The result is one of Italy's most durable helicopter families.

AW109 design is about speed and flexibility in a small twin-engine package. Later GrandNew variants add modern avionics, improved situational awareness, and cabin flexibility for corporate, emergency medical, law-enforcement, and light government roles. The aircraft's military value is usually in transport, liaison, training, observation, and security tasks rather than heavy combat.
