Intermediate J-10 modernization step
The J-10B updated the original J-10 design with revised aerodynamics, sensors, and avionics before the more mature J-10C.
The J-10B is an upgraded branch of the Chengdu J-10 family. It introduced visible changes to the air intake and nose area and is associated with improved avionics and sensor development compared with the earliest J-10A aircraft. The variant matters because it shows China iterating on a domestic fighter design rather than freezing it after initial service entry.
