Russian Multi-Band Radar For Aerospace Defense
mediumNebo-M is a mobile Russian radar complex developed to improve long-range air and missile warning, including difficult low-observable targets.
Nebo-M, also associated with export designation 55Zh6ME, belongs to Russia's modern family of mobile air-surveillance radars. It was developed by the Nizhny Novgorod radio-engineering design tradition as part of Russia's effort to strengthen aerospace defense with systems that can deploy away from fixed radar sites. The core concept is multi-band detection: different radar bands can complement each other when tracking aircraft, cruise missiles, ballistic targets and low-observable designs. Russian public messaging often emphasizes counter-stealth capability, but the broader development logic is layered early warning and target tracking for air-defense networks.
