QW-1 in the Qianwei MANPADS family
mediumQW-1 is part of China's shoulder-launched air-defense lineage for infantry and light forces.
The QW-1, or Qianwei-1, is an early Chinese man-portable air-defense system intended to give infantry and light units an organic short-range air-defense weapon. It belongs to the wider family of shoulder-launched infrared missiles that spread after the Cold War. Its development gave China a domestic alternative in a category dominated by Soviet, Russian, and Western MANPADS families.
