The Veer class is an Indian adaptation of the Soviet Tarantul fast missile corvette concept. It gave the Indian Navy compact, high-speed surface combatants optimized for coastal strike and anti-ship missile attack.
Veer-class ships trade endurance and blue-water margin for speed, missile armament, and compact crew requirements. Their value lies in operating close to shore, threatening larger ships with guided missiles, and reinforcing coastal defense with dispersed fast attack craft.
Several Veer-class ships served long careers before decommissioning, while upgraded units remained relevant through refits and changes in weapons fit. The class should be represented as a family with service-life variation, not as a single uniform configuration.
