Tracked infantry carrier

K200 KIFV is a South Korean tracked armoured personnel carrier and infantry support vehicle family.

The K200 KIFV was developed to replace older armoured personnel carriers and provide Korean infantry with protected tracked mobility. Despite the IFV label, the basic K200 is closer to an APC in armament and role, moving troops under armour while supporting mechanised units across rough terrain.

Protected mobility family

The K200 chassis supports troop transport and multiple support variants across Korean ground forces.

A tracked carrier like K200 can follow armoured formations more easily than trucks or many wheeled vehicles. The platform family supports troop movement, command, mortar, ambulance, and other specialist roles. That family approach makes the K200 important beyond the baseline personnel-carrier model.

Mechanised-force foundation

K200 matters because it gave South Korea a domestic armoured mobility base before newer K21 and wheeled vehicle programmes.

For HiWars, K200 is a foundational Korean ground vehicle. It illustrates how South Korea built large mechanised forces suited to peninsula defence, then evolved toward more advanced IFVs and wheeled platforms as requirements changed.
