STM Alpagu

STM Alpagu is a Turkish fixed-wing loitering munition designed as a lightweight, soldier-portable precision attack UAV. It is part of STM's tactical mini-UAV family alongside Kargu and Togan. Alpagu was developed to give small units reconnaissance and strike capability beyond line of sight without needing artillery, aircraft, or larger missile systems.

STM describes Alpagu as under 2 kg, tube or launcher deployed, and equipped with EO/IR imaging, autonomous navigation, and man-in-the-loop target engagement. Its fixed-wing layout gives more efficient forward flight than quadrotor munitions, while its small warhead limits it to personnel, light vehicles, exposed equipment, and point targets. It sits in the tactical loitering-munition class rather than a large cruise missile category.

Operationally, Alpagu gives infantry or special units an organic way to find and strike targets quickly. It is useful for ambushes, counterinsurgency, border security, and distributed operations where small teams need precision effects. Its limitations are endurance, payload size, control distance, and susceptibility to electronic warfare, but it adds precision attack options at a level that previously depended on heavier support.
