Counter-UAS and launched-effects platform

Raytheon Coyote is a family of small unmanned effectors originally developed as an expendable UAS and now heavily associated with counter-UAS missions. In current use, Coyote variants are integrated with radars and command systems to defeat hostile drones and drone swarms.

Kinetic and non-kinetic drone interception

The Coyote family includes effectors for hard-kill and non-kinetic counter-drone missions. Paired with sensors such as Ku-band radar and air-defense command systems, it gives ground forces a reusable or expendable way to engage small UAV threats that are too numerous or cheap for traditional missile defense.

Relevant to mass-drone defense

The system's importance has grown as cheap UAVs and loitering munitions became common battlefield threats. Counter-UAS systems must be affordable, scalable, and quick to cue; Coyote is one example of the move toward specialized effectors for drone defense rather than using expensive conventional interceptors for every target.
