On April 1, 2001

a U.S. reconnaissance aircraft violated our airspace in the South China Sea

Chinese Navy aviators Wang Wei and Zhao Yu

emergency scrambled their fighter jets to track and intercept

During the standoff

the U.S. aircraft suddenly turned, violating flight rules

Wang Wei's fighter jet was struck by the U.S. aircraft

Wang Wei was forced to eject and fell into the sea

the hero's life was forever frozen at the age of 33

……

After Wang Wei's sacrifice

he was posthumously awarded by the Central Military Commission

the honorary title of "Sea and Air Guardian"

and the first-class model medal

this was Wang Wei's last words to the motherland

On September 3, 2025

a grand ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese War

and the World Anti-Fascist War was held

at Tiananmen Square in Beijing
