This is perhaps the most unpleasant conclusion for the Kremlin: the Ukrainian war is turning "Zircon" from a symbol of the future into a diagnostic tool for Russian limitations.

The irony is almost Soviet. The more Moscow tries to prove that its hypersonics change the rules of war, the clearer it becomes that the rules are still set by industry, logistics, serial production, and quality of management. "Zircon" remains a dangerous weapon, and underestimating it would be foolish. But it no longer looks like a weapon that stands outside the ordinary laws of war. And this, for the Russian strategic legend, may be more painful than any interception.
