A merchant ship attacked near the Strait of Hormuz with 30 crew members on board

On July 24, Xinhua News Agency reported from London (Reporter Gao Wencheng) that a sailor provided an exclusive recording of a ship's radio public channel to Xinhua reporters, showing that a merchant ship named "Disha" issued an emergency distress signal, stating it was under "attack by an unidentified projectile" near the Strait of Hormuz, with 30 crew members on board.

The recording shows that the "Disha" merchant ship called out, saying: "We are under attack by an unidentified projectile, the engine room is filled with thick smoke, we urgently need immediate rescue. We have 30 crew members on board." The ship reported its location near the Strait of Hormuz.

In another segment of the recording, a speaker identified by the aforementioned sailor as a U.S. personnel warned a merchant ship named "Raven," stating that it "is continuing to head towards Iran, which has violated relevant requirements." The speaker said, "We are preparing to open fire on your engine room," and requested the crew to evacuate the engine room within a limited time.

Vessel information shows that the "Raven" and "Disha" are the same ship, which was renamed "Disha" in May of this year.

On the 14th, the U.S. Central Command announced on social media that the U.S. military resumed maritime blockades against vessels traveling to and from Iranian ports and coastal areas at 4 PM Eastern Time (4 AM Beijing Time on the 15th).
