Advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader: The U.S. is Becoming Rational, While Israel Seeks to Stir Up Trouble
On February 11, Xinhua News Agency reported from Doha (Reporter Wang Qiang) that Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council and advisor to the Supreme Leader, stated in an interview with Qatar's Al Jazeera that negotiations between Iran and the United States are ongoing, and the U.S. is moving towards a rational path by participating in the talks.
During his visit to Qatar, Larijani also accused Israel of trying to undermine the negotiation process and seeking excuses to provoke incidents. He said in the interview that Israel's targets are not only Iran but the stability of the entire Middle East region.
Larijani stated that regional countries are working hard to ensure the success of the negotiations between Iran and the U.S., and Iran holds a positive attitude towards this. However, Iran has not yet received any "specific proposals" from the U.S.
He reiterated Iran's position on the nuclear issue and stated that if the U.S. attacks Iran, Iran will strike U.S. military bases in the Middle East.
According to a statement released by the Qatari Emir's Palace, Qatari Emir Tamim met with Larijani in Doha on the same day. The statement said that the two sides exchanged views on the evolution of the regional situation, efforts to ease tensions, ways to enhance regional security, and regional and international issues of mutual concern.
