ASELSAN demonstrated the GÖKALP UAV Interception System’s ability to detect and destroy hostile drones in mid-air during a demonstration at the ASELSAN Oğulbey Technology Base in Ankara.
Developed by ASELSAN, GÖKALP detects threats using radar and electro-optical systems and autonomously neutralizes hostile drones. Its vehicle-integrated design provides a mobile and cost-effective solution against unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) threats.

10 October 2026 – During the demonstration, the AURA radar detected the target drone and transmitted real-time data to the GÖKALP E1 interceptor drone through the DRONEDEF system’s command-and-control software. GÖKALP E1 then intercepted and destroyed the target using the direct-impact (hit-to-kill) method.
DRONEDEF is ASELSAN’s counter-drone layer within STEELDOME, Türkiye’s integrated, layered air defense architecture. It integrates detection, command-and-control, and countermeasure capabilities to enable a coordinated response to UAV threats.

The GÖKALP demonstration successfully showcased the integrated operation of the system’s components and its interception capabilities under realistic conditions.
