China's Defense Minister Visits to Deepen Sino-Thai Security Mutual Trust and Defense Cooperation

Jiang Bin: Recently, Defense Minister Dong Jun visited Thailand and Brunei at the invitation of both countries. This is a concrete measure to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of China and Thailand, deepen security mutual trust and defense cooperation, and serve the construction of a community with a shared future in the region. During the visit, Minister Dong Jun met with the Prime Minister of Thailand and the Sultan of Brunei, and held talks with the leaders of the defense departments of both countries to exchange in-depth opinions on the relationship between the two countries' militaries, the international and regional situation, and issues of common concern.

Currently, China-Thailand relations are moving towards the next golden 50 years. The leaders of both countries have reached a new important consensus on deepening the construction of a China-Thailand community with a shared future and announced the establishment of a "2+2" strategic dialogue mechanism for foreign ministers and defense ministers. We are willing to work with the Thai side to strengthen strategic communication, deepen practical cooperation in joint exercises and training, personnel exchanges, humanitarian disaster relief, and promote the upgrading of China-Thailand military cooperation.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, both sides are moving towards building a higher-level strategic cooperative partnership. The two militaries will consolidate traditional friendship and further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in personnel training, maritime security, international peacekeeping, and other fields, safeguard common interests, uphold fairness and justice, and promote regional peace, stability, and prosperous development.
