Chinese Navy hospital ship "Peace Ark" arrives in Ghana

Xinhua News Agency, Accra, October 24 (Reporter Gao Jianfei, Tian Sha) On the local time of the 23rd, the Chinese Navy hospital ship "Peace Ark," executing the "Harmony Mission-2026," arrived in Ghana to begin a 7-day friendly visit and provide medical services. This is the first visit of a Chinese Navy hospital ship to Ghana.

At around 10 a.m., accompanied by welcoming music, the "Peace Ark" hospital ship slowly docked at Tema Port, Ghana's largest port, with the flags of China and Ghana flying in the wind from the mast. Onboard, the mission personnel lined up in sections, waving to the welcoming crowd. Ghanaian military and political officials, representatives of the Chinese ambassador, military attaché, and embassy staff in Ghana, as well as local Chinese expatriates and representatives of Chinese-funded institutions, gathered at the dock to welcome the ship. The welcoming crowd held up banners and waved the flags of both countries, warmly welcoming the hospital ship's visit.

After the welcoming ceremony, Ghanaian military and political officials, the Chinese ambassador to Ghana, the military attaché, and embassy staff boarded the hospital ship for a tour and discussions with representatives of the mission personnel.

During the visit, the commander of the task force will meet with Ghanaian military leaders. The hospital ship will utilize its main platform to provide medical services and dispatch medical teams for outreach treatment and academic exchanges. In addition, the task force will organize a deck reception, conduct health education at the Tema Naval Base Primary School, and hold a friendly football match with Ghanaian military personnel.
