Croatia Procures Korean Rocket Artillery System to Reduce Dependence on the U.S.
Xinhua News Agency, Zagreb, September 4 (Reporter Ma Zhen) The Croatian government decided on the 4th to procure 18 sets of South Korean "K239 Chunmoo" multiple launch rocket systems. Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Mario Banožić stated that the "Chunmoo" will be used in conjunction with the U.S. "HIMARS" system to reduce dependence on a single manufacturer.
According to the Croatian News Agency, the procurement amount is approximately 540 million euros and will take place from later this year until 2029.
Banožić said that the "Chunmoo" has a range of over 300 kilometers and can fire munitions with a caliber of up to 607 millimeters.
The "Chunmoo" is a multi-caliber self-propelled multiple launch rocket system developed by Hanwha Aerospace. Croatia has previously ordered several sets of the "HIMARS" system and hundreds of rockets with a range of 80 kilometers, which are expected to be delivered by 2028.
