Explosion at a military camp in Aden, Yemen, at least 12 soldiers dead

Xinhua News Agency, Kuwait City, June 11 (Reporter Yin Zha) Aden news: A severe explosion occurred at a military camp in the southern Yemeni port city of Aden early on the morning of the 11th, resulting in at least 12 soldiers dead and several others injured.

Local sources told Xinhua reporters that the explosion took place at a military camp in the center of Aden, which belongs to the "Giants Brigade." The explosion was heard throughout most of the city. The "Giants Brigade" is affiliated with the Yemeni government and has deployed a large number of troops in Aden and southern Yemeni provinces to combat the Houthi armed forces.

An anonymous security official stated that preliminary investigations suggest the incident was triggered by a short circuit in the military camp's ammunition depot. After the fire broke out, it spread to the ammunition storage area, causing a series of explosions.

Witnesses reported that after the explosion, thick smoke and flames rose above the military camp, followed by successive explosions, with vibrations felt in several surrounding neighborhoods.

A medical personnel from the Aden health department confirmed to Xinhua reporters that multiple hospitals have received the bodies of 12 deceased soldiers, and some injured individuals are undergoing surgical treatment.

Currently, the Yemeni government has not issued a formal statement regarding the incident, nor have they disclosed details such as the extent of the damage.
