Xinhua News Agency, Damascus, October 30 (Reporter Lin Jianjie) According to a report from the Syrian National News Agency on the 30th, a series of explosions involving war remnants occurred in Syria's Hasakeh, Daraa, and Hama provinces on the same day, resulting in the deaths of three children and injuries to six others.

In northeastern Hasakeh province and southern Daraa province, two landmines exploded, causing the deaths of two children and injuries to three others. In northern Hama province, several children were playing in a residential yard when a cluster bomb exploded, resulting in the death of one child and injuries to three others, one of whom is in serious condition.

The long-standing conflict in Syria has left a large number of landmines, cluster munitions, and other unexploded ordnance across many areas of the country, posing a continuous threat to civilian safety. In recent years, there have been multiple incidents of civilian casualties due to landmine explosions. A report released by UNICEF in April this year estimated that approximately 5 million children in Syria live in areas contaminated by war remnants such as landmines, with these explosive devices scattered around roads, farmland, residential areas, and schools.

According to statistics from the UK-based "Syrian Observatory for Human Rights," since the beginning of 2026, explosions involving war remnants have resulted in 276 deaths, including 108 children, and 440 injuries, including 169 children.
