FFF 2026 – Omnipol sign up with SINAB and Mongolia
On October 21st at Future Forces Forum in Prague Omnipol, the Czech group active in aviation and communications, announced a strategic co-operation agreement with Australian company SINAB Technologies
This comes a year after the President (now Defence President) Jiří Podpěra and Sinab Technologies CEO Tony Landers signed memorandum of understanding related to the Phoenix pod at the Future Forces Forum in September 2025.
Sinab Technologies has designed this autonomous, multi-functional airborne pod. In its base configuration, the system was meant for the training of Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC), however in its modular design other capabilities such as Electronic Warfare (EW), Close Air Support (CAS), and Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) are included.
The objective of this collaboration is to integrate the system onto L-39NG Skyfox in the Drone Hunter role and the L 410NG aircraft, both supplied by the Omnipol Group. In the Drone Hunter role, the pod detects, tracks, and supports the engagement of low-cost aerial drone threats.
This should expand the capabilities of these aircraft and enhance their appeal on the global market. Additionally, Omnipol has secured the rights to represent Sinab products in select countries across Central Europe and Asia.
“The partnership with Sinab Technologies represents a significant step for our group. By combining our experience with the advanced solutions offered by our Australian partner, at the same time we are opening up new possibilities for the modernization of aviation platforms,” says Jiří Podpěra, President Omnipol Defence.
In early September, the Sinab Phoenix pod was also evaluated on a CzAF L-159 ALCA from Namest during a series of eight trial flights.
The Sinab Phoenix pod was seen publicly for the first time with the L-39NG at Dubai Airshow in November 2025, but most recently at NATO Air Days, Ostrava in Czechia during mid-September.
Omnipol Defence’s Jiří Podpěra signed a Memorandum of Understanding on October 21 with a representative of the Mongolian MoD for the sale of one Aircraft Industries L 410NG. According to the agreement the Mongolian MoD has agreed to include the purchase of the L 410NG in Q4 of the 2026 budget. The MoU also sees Omnipol agree to modernise both civil and military airports in Mongolia.
The Mongolian People’s Air Force (MPAF) has never operated a L 410 before, preferring instead to use a fleet of Harbin Y-12 Twin Pandas flown by the Mongolian Citizens’ Air Charter. There is also speculation Mongolia could be considering a purchase of Aero L-39NG Skyfox, the air force currently operating a couple of L-39s for basic flight training. Several members of the MPAF attended the Future Air Force Forum also held in Prague at the same time. Omnipol has a 25% minority share in the business.
