The Zunyi ship has encountered foreign warships and aircraft multiple times

conducting close reconnaissance and monitoring

“During that mission

we were organizing routine training activities

when foreign vessels monitored our Zunyi ship

while we were sailing at high speed

the other side was also monitoring us

and they had to sail at high speed too

at that moment

(suddenly) their power and electricity all went out

the radar stopped emitting waves, and the navigation lights went out

for nearly half an hour

but our equipment

and our personnel had no issues at all”

When asked by reporters

whether he felt nervous in such situations

Zhang Jun confidently responded:

“Why should I be nervous?

I am definitely not nervous

as long as I am within the range of my missiles

Anti-submarine warfare

“The anti-submarine specialty may differ from other specialties

XU Yi from the Zunyi ship introduced:

“Anti-submarine warfare involves capturing (targets) at sea

I may detect and identify targets through experience and equipment

but I might not be certain

because the submarine has not surfaced

I cannot say that what I captured is a submarine

only after returning to port

and comparing the traces of the submarine

can I confirm it is a submarine

that sense of accomplishment

is very satisfying”

Since its commissioning

the Zunyi ship has always focused on deep-sea anti-submarine

as a key area of research

summarizing and forming a certain anti-submarine tactic

and last year in the Navy competition

applied this achievement to win first place
