On April 6, Xinhua News Agency reported from Tehran that, according to a statement from the Iranian military cited by the Iranian Fars News Agency, four Iranian army officers were killed the previous day during a confrontation with U.S. military search and rescue operations in southern Isfahan Province.

The statement said that in the early hours of April 5, the Iranian military engaged in combat with U.S. forces, using a shoulder-fired missile to hit a U.S. military aircraft, which was subsequently attacked by other U.S. aircraft, ultimately resulting in the deaths of four officers, including a brigadier general and a colonel.

A spokesperson for the Central Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces, Khatam al-Anbiya, stated on the 5th that U.S. forces attempted to "conduct a so-called rescue operation" at an abandoned airport in southern Isfahan Province, but due to the timely intervention of the Iranian armed forces, the operation ended in "complete failure."

On the 3rd, a U.S. F-15E "Strike Eagle" twin-seat fighter jet was shot down over Iran, and two pilots ejected and escaped. U.S. search and rescue aircraft and helicopters entered Iranian territory that day, locating and rescuing one pilot. On the evening of April 4, Eastern Time, U.S. President Trump announced that U.S. forces had rescued the second pilot from Iran.
