French and Brazilian Navies Conduct Joint Exercises

According to a report by Reference News Network on April 26, the Brazilian news agency reported on April 23 that the French Navy fleet will carry out an important training and combat exercise mission in Rio de Janeiro. More than 1,400 French and Brazilian military personnel are participating in this operation, aimed at developing joint operational capabilities between the French Navy and Army and the Brazilian Navy.

The training will take place on the 27th and 28th at the Marambaia Sandbank Protection Area.

French fleet commander Joseph Lan Delrier emphasized that this mission is an opportunity for mutual learning between the two countries. He stated, “Our main goal is to protect our own interests and train alongside a strong partner like Brazil.”

According to the French Embassy in Brazil, more than 800 French military personnel are participating in this mission. The fleet is led by the amphibious assault ship "Dixmude," which can carry 16 helicopters and 80 armored vehicles, and the destroyer "Uto." Additionally, helicopters, drones, and armored vehicles are also involved in this mission.

According to the Brazilian Navy, approximately 600 Brazilian military personnel will participate in the exercise, conducting amphibious operations and maritime area control exercises. This operation will mobilize Brazilian Navy and Air Force assets, such as the submarine "Umitá," the landing ship "Almirante Sabóia," the frigate "Defensor," as well as SH-16 "Sea Eagle" helicopters, UH-12 "Squirrel" helicopters, and AH-11B "Wildcat" helicopters.
