According to Palestinian media reports on the 16th, Izaddin al-Hadad, a military leader of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), has died.

The report stated that on the same day, several mosques in Gaza City broadcasted tributes to the deceased al-Hadad through loudspeakers.

Sources in the Gaza Strip told Xinhua reporters that local residents held a memorial ceremony at a mosque in Gaza City, where al-Hadad's wife and daughter also lost their lives in the Israeli airstrike.

A senior Hamas official also confirmed al-Hadad's death to the media on the 16th.

On the evening of the 15th, Israel conducted airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, resulting in at least 7 deaths and 50 injuries. The Israel Defense Forces and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) issued a statement on the 16th confirming al-Hadad's death.

The Israeli statement said that al-Hadad was one of the planners of Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, and was also one of the longest-serving commanders of Hamas.
