Report Content

Aug 25th, 2026 – Hanwha Aerospace today announced the establishment of Hanwha Horizon USA, a new entity that will oversee the company’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) business, from procurement and sales to trading and logistics optimization.

The new entity will be led by James Sagar, chief executive officer of Hanwha Shipping, who brings more than 30 years of experience in the maritime and energy industries.

“The launch of Hanwha Horizon USA is a turning point that connects our global LNG procurement capabilities with our shipbuilding and maritime businesses,” said Sagar. “We will build a stable LNG supply chain that can respond flexibly to market changes and continue to grow a distinctive LNG value chain in the global energy market.”

Hanwha Aerospace plans to build a global LNG value chain centered on Hanwha Horizon USA, bringing together the capabilities of Hanwha affiliates across LNG transportation, supply and power generation.

The company will first supply fuel to Hanwha Energy’s Yeosu LNG power plant in Korea, scheduled to begin commercial operation in 2029, and then expand supply to power producers and energy companies in Korea and other markets. Over the longer term, it will launch a full-scale LNG trading business in Asia and beyond.

The new entity also supports closer energy security cooperation between the United States and Korea. A stable LNG supply chain is expected to expand the two countries’ cooperation in strategic industries, from energy to defense.

Hanwha Aerospace has built a stable supply base for the new business. The company signed an LNG purchase agreement with Venture Global, a leading U.S. LNG producer, and a memorandum of understanding with Korea Southern Power (KOSPO) to jointly strengthen LNG procurement and diversify supply sources. It also holds an A- credit rating from S&P Global Ratings, reinforcing the financial position supporting its LNG expansion.
