Hezbollah Rejects "Partial Ceasefire" with Israel, Both Sides Continue Mutual Attacks
Xinhua News Agency, Beirut, June 2 (Reporter Cao Changhao, Shen Feng) - Mahmoud Qumati, a senior official of Hezbollah, stated in a media interview on the 2nd that Hezbollah does not agree to any "partial ceasefire" agreement with Israel.
Qumati indicated that Hezbollah and its allies will not accept a proposal that involves "the Israeli military stopping attacks on southern Beirut in exchange for Hezbollah ceasing its strikes on northern Israeli settlements." He emphasized that Hezbollah only accepts a comprehensive, complete, and genuine ceasefire, rather than merely returning to the situation before the outbreak of this round of conflict, stating, "We will not agree to any partial ceasefire agreement."
According to a report from the Lebanese National News Agency on the 2nd, the Israeli military continued to carry out airstrikes on multiple locations in southern Lebanon, including Duwair and Nabatiyeh, resulting in at least 12 deaths and 4 injuries, among whom were members of the Lebanese Armed Forces.
On the same day, Hezbollah announced that its armed personnel launched a series of attacks against the Israeli military in southern Lebanon in the early hours of the 2nd.
Lebanese President Aoun issued a statement emphasizing that Lebanon has no choice but to negotiate. "True strength does not lie in waging war, but in having the courage and wisdom to end the war through negotiation to safeguard national interests."
Data released by the Lebanese Ministry of Health on the same day showed that since the resumption of hostilities between Lebanon and Israel on March 2, Israeli attacks on Lebanon have resulted in 3,468 deaths and 10,577 injuries.
