Xinhua News Agency, Kuwait City, October 6 (Reporter Yin Zhao) - Sana'a reports: Yahya Saree, the military spokesman for the Houthi armed forces, stated on social media on the evening of the 6th that the organization has repelled multiple advances by the Saudi Arabia-backed Yemeni government forces towards the strategically important Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

The statement said that the Houthis engaged in combat with the government forces attempting to advance to positions near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, forcing the latter to retreat. During the fighting, the Houthis launched 10 ballistic missiles at the assembly points and reinforcements of the government forces, resulting in dozens of casualties among government soldiers and the destruction of several military vehicles.

On the same day, Saree stated in another announcement regarding the battle situation that the Houthis repelled government forces attempting to attack Houthi positions in Taiz Province.

The statement also mentioned that in the past 24 hours, Saudi Arabia has launched 66 attacks using fighter jets, armed reconnaissance drones, and ground-to-ground missiles against several provinces in western and northern Yemen. The attacks resulted in civilian casualties, including women and children, but the statement did not provide specific numbers.

Sources from the government forces told Xinhua reporters that the government forces still control the coastal area of Zubab in the southwestern part of Taiz Province, near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. This area has been hit by multiple Houthi missile attacks, causing losses to the government forces.

On the 5th, Rashad al-Alimi, chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, issued a statement announcing the launch of "Operation Yemen Dawn" to restore the functioning of national institutions, liberate the capital Sana'a, and end the Houthi armed rebellion. On the same day, the Yemeni government forces claimed to have recaptured the Red Sea port city of Mocha in Taiz Province.
