Xinhua News Agency, Kuwait City, September 12 (Reporter Yin Zhao) - Sana'a reports: The Houthi armed group stated on the 12th that Saudi warplanes conducted 129 airstrikes in seven provinces of Yemen over the past 48 hours.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree released a statement on social media that Saudi Air Force F-15 fighter jets and Typhoon fighter jets targeted the southwestern Taiz province, northeastern Marib province, the Red Sea coastal province of Hudaydah, as well as the northern provinces of Al-Jawf, Saada, Amran, and Hajjah.
He warned that these airstrikes "will not go unanswered and unpunished."
Recently, the Houthi armed group has intensified its offensive against government forces and announced a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia, which supports the Yemeni government. The Houthis stated on the 11th that since launching their offensive on September 3, they have seized approximately 5,400 square kilometers of land in western Yemen. The Yemeni government stated on the same day that the Houthis have controlled the entire western coastline of the country and continue to advance southward.
Before launching this round of offensives, the Houthi armed group had already controlled large areas of northern Yemen, including the capital Sana'a and the important Red Sea port of Hudaydah, but had not yet taken control of the coastal areas directly overlooking the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait.
