The Houthi armed group stated on the 16th that in the past 24 hours, Saudi Arabian warplanes have launched 40 airstrikes on three provinces in Yemen.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree issued a statement on social media, saying that F-15 fighter jets took off from an airbase in the southwestern Saudi city of Khamis Mushait and conducted the aforementioned airstrikes on Taiz province in southwestern Yemen, Marib province in northeastern Yemen, and Hajjah province in northwestern Yemen.

Additionally, Saree stated in a television announcement that the Houthis "recently shot down a Saudi armed reconnaissance drone" while it was conducting "hostile operations" over Marib province.

Saree also mentioned that at 18:40 local time, two batches of F-15 fighter jets entered the airspace over the coastal area of Taiz province in western Yemen, and the Houthis used several self-made surface-to-air missiles to intercept them, forcing the aircraft to retreat.

The Saudi side has not yet responded to the Houthi claims.

Recently, the Houthis have intensified their offensive against government forces and announced a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia, which supports the Yemeni government. On the 10th, both the Yemeni government forces and the Houthis confirmed that the Houthis had captured the strategic Red Sea location of Mocha that day. The Houthis claimed on the 11th that since launching their offensive on September 3, they have seized approximately 5,400 square kilometers of land in western Yemen. The Yemeni government stated on the same day that the Houthis have taken control of the entire western coastline of the country and continue to advance southward. (Reporter: Yin Zhao)
