IDF Reveals Details of Attack on Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy Leadership
On March 26 local time, the Israel Defense Forces issued a statement confirming that the Israeli military killed Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy Commander Ali Reza Tangsiri and several senior naval officers in an airstrike on the southern Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas.
The statement said that at the time of the airstrike, Tangsiri was in a meeting with several senior officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy. In addition to Tangsiri, the head of Iranian Navy intelligence, Behnam Raisi, was also killed in this operation, and the Israeli side has not disclosed the names of other senior commanders who were killed.
The statement noted that Tangsiri had served as the commander of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy for about eight years, during which he “was responsible for attacks on tankers and merchant ships, and repeatedly threatened the safety of navigation and trade in the Strait of Hormuz and international waters.”
