Iran claims to have destroyed the US consulate in Erbil, Iraq.
According to Iranian sources, on March 2 local time, the U.S. Consulate in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdish Autonomous Region in northern Iraq “has been destroyed and is no longer operational”.
There has been no response from the Kurdish Regional Government in northern Iraq or the U.S. regarding this matter.
According to Erbil's security department, as of March 2, the Kurdish region has suffered more than ten attacks launched by the Iranian and Iraqi militia group “Islamic Resistance” since February 28, using over 60 missiles and drones, most of which were intercepted by local air defense systems.
