On the 16th local time, reporters from the Central Station learned that Iran claimed that in the early hours of the day, a U.S. MQ-9 "Reaper" drone was shot down by a new air defense system of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps over the skies of Andimeshk, Iran.

According to reports, militia groups in the Dasht-e Abad area of Dehloran County discovered the wreckage of the drone in the mountainous region near the village of Saeptoon during their search. The Iranian side stated that after the drone was shot down, its wreckage scattered within the jurisdiction of Dehloran County, and was subsequently found and recovered by local personnel.
