On the 12th local time, the public relations department of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a statement saying that in response to the ongoing attacks by the U.S. military on Iranian armed forces' coastal bases, Iran struck the second "violating vessel" in the Strait of Hormuz, causing it to cease navigation.

The statement said that in the second phase of the retaliatory action, Iran used ballistic missiles to strike the U.S. Al Udeid Air Base located in Qatar. The statement noted that the targets of this attack included the base's fighter jet maintenance support center and command and control center.
