Iranian Media: Iran May Open New Front in the Strait of Mandeb

Xinhua News Agency, Tehran, March 25 - According to a report from the Iranian Tasnim News Agency on the 25th, an Iranian military source who wished to remain anonymous stated that if the enemy attempts to launch ground operations against Iranian islands or the mainland, or pressures Iran through naval actions in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, Iran will open a new front in the Strait of Mandeb.

The Strait of Mandeb connects the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, serving as a "throat" that links the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Indian Ocean, and is referred to as the "maritime corridor" connecting the three continents of Eurasia and Africa. This Iranian military source stated that Iran has both the will and the capability to threaten the Strait of Mandeb. If the Americans want to use foolish actions to open the Strait of Hormuz, they must be careful not to create another strait that brings them difficulties and troubles.

Mohammed Bukhaiti, a member of the political bureau of the Houthi armed group in Yemen, stated to RIA Novosti on the 20th that the Houthis are considering all possible options to support Iran in resisting attacks from the United States and Israel. If it becomes necessary to close the Strait of Mandeb, the Houthis will only target ships from countries that participate in attacks against Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, and Palestine.
