Iranian Officials Warn of Kurdish Armed "Infiltration" Activities
Xinhua News Agency, Tehran, March 6 - Ahmadian, the representative of the Supreme Leader to the Defense Council of Iran, warned on the 6th that if Kurdish armed groups cross the border into Iran, all facilities in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region (KRG) will become targets for strikes.
The Iranian Fars News Agency quoted Ahmadian as saying that currently, the Iranian military has only targeted bases of the United States, Israel, and "separatist groups" within the KRG. However, if the KRG continues to allow Israel and "separatist groups" to operate within its territory or permits them to cross into Iran, then "all facilities in the KRG will fall within the strike range of Iran."
The Islamic Republic News Agency reported on the 5th, citing a statement from the Iranian military, that Iran launched three missiles hitting targets within the KRG. Iranian intelligence stated that there are organized attempts to infiltrate into Iran with the support of the United States and Israel, and to launch attacks in the border areas.
In response to reports from U.S. media regarding a ground attack by Iraqi Kurds within Iranian territory, Aziz Ahmad, deputy director of the KRG Prime Minister's office, denied on social media on the 5th, stating that no Iraqi Kurds have crossed the border, and that the related reports from U.S. media are "clearly lies."
