Xinhua News Agency, Tehran, October 5 (Reporter Shadati) - Iranian President Raisi stated on the 5th that negotiating with an "enemy" that frequently exerts pressure, imposes sanctions, and constantly reneges on promises is "meaningless."

According to a statement released by the Iranian President's Office, Raisi made the remarks during a meeting in Tehran with visiting Armenian Foreign Minister Mirzoyan. Raisi emphasized that the U.S. claiming willingness to negotiate after attacking Iran is a reflection of its "deceptive behavior."

Raisi stated that Iran has repeatedly demonstrated its sincerity regarding its nuclear activities and has accepted oversight from the International Atomic Energy Agency. He recently mentioned in a speech at the United Nations General Assembly that Iran is "ready to engage in dialogue and verification in the field of nuclear activities."

Additionally, according to a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian stated during his meeting with Mirzoyan on the 5th that Iran will "firmly" defend its national interests and security, but has never hesitated to use diplomatic means to prevent escalation. During the talks, Amir-Abdollahian briefed Mirzoyan on the latest developments in the West Asia region, particularly the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
