Iranian Speaker: Lebanon is an Indispensable Part of the Region's Comprehensive Ceasefire
Xinhua News Agency, Tehran, April 16 - Iranian Islamic Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf stated on the 16th that Lebanon is an indispensable part of a comprehensive ceasefire in the Middle East. Iran is determined to promote comprehensive peace and security in the region, but the "other side" repeatedly violates commitments, undermining the results of related efforts.
According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Ghalibaf made these remarks during a meeting with visiting Pakistani Army Chief Munir, stating that Iran is committed to achieving comprehensive peace for itself and the entire region, and hopes that those who instigate wars and are now eager to end them will cease their unreliable actions.
The two sides exchanged views on the situation in Lebanon. Ghalibaf emphasized that reaching a comprehensive ceasefire in all conflict areas is one of the contents of the ceasefire agreement reached between Iran and the United States under Pakistan's mediation. Reports say that Munir expressed that Pakistan will continue to pay close attention to the situation in Lebanon and is seriously advancing various consultation efforts, while looking forward to meeting Ghalibaf again in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, soon.
Ghalibaf led a delegation to negotiate with the U.S. delegation in Islamabad from the 11th to the 12th of this month but failed to reach an agreement.
