Iranian Speaker Responds Firmly to Threat of U.S. Ground Invasion
Xinhua News Agency, Tehran, March 27 - Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly Speaker Ghalibaf responded strongly on social media on the 27th to the threat of a U.S. ground invasion, suggesting that such an invasion would face failure.
He stated on social media: "The U.S. can't even protect its own soldiers in military bases in the Middle East, having to hide them in hotels and parks. In this situation, how could they possibly protect these soldiers on our (Iran's) territory?"
The U.S. Wall Street Journal reported on the 26th that the U.S. Department of Defense is considering deploying up to 10,000 additional ground troops to the Middle East, potentially positioned within striking range of Iran's mainland and its oil export hub, Khark Island.
