Iraqi military sources deny attack on Fujairah, warn UAE against taking inappropriate actions
Xinhua News Agency, Tehran, May 4 - According to Iranian media reports on the 4th, an unnamed Iranian military source denied that the fire in the Fujairah oil industrial area of the UAE was related to Iran, and responded to reports regarding the UAE's threats to strike Iran, warning the UAE against taking inappropriate actions.
According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), the Iranian military source stated that Iran had not pre-planned any attack on the Fujairah oil industrial area. The related incident is a result of the United States' "military adventurism," and the U.S. should be held responsible for it.
He accused the U.S. of attempting to create a passage for vessels "illegally transiting the restricted waters of the Strait of Hormuz."
Iran's Tasnim News Agency reported that the military source said that the current claims about the UAE threatening to strike Iran are mostly media reports citing sources, and there has been no formal threat from the UAE. However, if the UAE "becomes a tool of Israel and takes inappropriate actions," Iran will respond severely, and "all UAE interests may become targets," with facilities within the UAE "no longer safe."
The source indicated that the UAE "is well aware of its own security situation," and if it makes a "wrong choice," Iran will no longer exercise restraint and will treat the UAE "as part of Israel in its response."
The Fujairah media office issued a statement on the 4th, stating that the Fujairah oil industrial area was set on fire due to an attack by a drone coming from the direction of Iran, resulting in injuries to three Indian nationals. The UAE Ministry of Defense announced that evening that the country's air defense system successfully intercepted 12 ballistic missiles, 3 cruise missiles, and 4 drones coming from the direction of Iran that day.
