UAE Ministry of Defense: Intercepting Missiles and Drones Launched by Iran

Xinhua News Agency, Dubai, May 4th (Reporters Xia Xiao, Zhao Danliang) The UAE Ministry of Defense announced on the 4th that the country's air defense system successfully intercepted 12 ballistic missiles, 3 cruise missiles, and 4 drones launched from the direction of Iran on the same day, resulting in 3 people being moderately injured.

The UAE Ministry of Defense emphasized that the UAE military is maintaining the highest level of alert and readiness to respond to all potential threats and is resolutely combating any actions that undermine national security, ensuring that national sovereignty, security, stability, and national interests and critical facilities are effectively protected.

The UAE Ministry of Defense stated in a declaration that since February 28, a total of 549 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles, and 2260 drones launched by Iran have been intercepted. So far, such attacks have resulted in injuries to 227 individuals of various nationalities and 13 deaths.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement on the same day, strongly condemning Iran's use of missiles and drones to attack civilian facilities and targets within its territory. The statement said that this attack constitutes a serious escalation, directly threatening the UAE's national security, stability, and territorial integrity, and violates international law and the United Nations Charter. The UAE reserves the right to take all necessary measures to respond in accordance with the law.

On the 4th, the UAE issued multiple alerts to the public via mobile phones, stating that there is a "potential missile threat," urging the public to take necessary precautions immediately. The Fujairah oil industrial area in the UAE was attacked by drones on the same day, resulting in 3 injuries. This incident marks the first related attack on the UAE since the temporary ceasefire between the United States, Israel, and Iran on April 8.
