On the 29th local time, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz issued a joint statement saying that the Israeli military "targeted and eliminated" Iz Din Bik, the commander of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in northern Gaza, during an airstrike operation from the night of the 28th to the early morning of the 29th. The statement accused him of planning attacks against Israeli security forces and being responsible for recruiting new armed personnel.
