The statement said that the targets of the airstrikes were critical infrastructure in Iran, including a petrochemical facility located in Shiraz, which is alleged to be used for producing nitric acid for the Iranian armed forces. The statement noted that nitric acid is an important raw material for the manufacture of explosives and ballistic missiles.
The statement mentioned that this facility is one of the "few" remaining in Iran that still produces key explosive chemical materials and missile-related materials, following previous strikes by the Israeli military on Iran's "largest petrochemical facility" and the Mahshahr Petrochemical Economic Zone. This strike further weakened Iran's capabilities in related weapons production.
The statement also said that in the same operation, the Israeli military targeted a large ballistic missile site in northwestern Iran. The statement claimed that this site had launched dozens of missiles at Israel.
